postcardwall likes to show off its collection. All postcards & words have been shown all over London, creating an exhibition that is as much about art as about words. Always evolving with a new postcard added each week, no exhibition was ever the same. postcardwall also exhibited throughout 2015 as part of the year of the postcard celebration.

postcardwall @ VEGAS | 27 August – 9 September 2012 | VEGAS Gallery, London
All postcards to date (at the time 311) were exhibited along with their words at VEGAS Gallery, London. Hung four rows deep, the gallery walls was literally turned into a postcardwall. As well as the postcards, this exhibition showed original artwork from 8 postcardwall artists, showing new work alongside the remembered image. Tipped by Time Out First Thursday as one of their Top 5 for September, the exhibition had a great reception and was visited by a tour group of resident artists in its last few days.

art / words / postcardwall; a catalogue| 3-5 April 2012 | Mall Galleries, London
To celebrate 300 postcards on postcardwall, all 300 postcards were displayed along with their texts in art / words / postcardwall; a catalogue.
Offline for 3 days, the postcards were displayed in number order, as well as listed by country, gallery & century, in a wonderful opportunity to remember and discover art. Visitors were intrigued as they made their way around the walls, dipping into images that provoked their fancy by reading their words. The private view was an exciting and celebratory evening, attended by near 100 people, Simon Tait and Lesley Garrett among them.

art / words / postcardwall; a catalogue
Review by Simon Tait, taitmail 4th April ’11
“Postcard from Sophie. It’s worth looking in at The Mall Galleries for Sophie Hill’s little exhibition of postcards, but hurry, it’s only on until tomorrow. It’s a transfer of her blog at https://postcardwall.wordpress.com, in which she takes images that have appealed to her and writes her own fluent, knowledgeable and often funny commentary. The images range from Rembrandt, Caravaggio and Velasquez, to the Volkswagen Beetle of the mid-1950s, a poster for the 1925 Paris Exposition and Father Christmas of 1850. She has added 300 to the site since she started it in 2009 just after graduating with an art history degree from York, all reduced to postcard size, and by way of celebration they’re all here.”
